Ola Salon and Spa will host “Cut-a-thon for Transitional Resources,” an event at their West Seattle salon to kick off their 2013 fundraising campaign for Transitional Resources. Ola will host friends and neighbors for a Cut-A-Thon, where Ola’s outstanding stylists will cut and style hair for a suggested donation. They are currently working with other businesses in the community to provide food, drinks, and raffle prizes for the event. All proceeds will benefit Transitional Resources, a West Seattle-based non-profit mental health center serving people living with severe and persistent mental illness.

Ola Salon is owned by Rachel Karlin, who won Transitional Resources’ Community Citizenship award in 2012 for their ongoing support of TR’s mission. They will continue fundraising on behalf of Transitional Resources throughout 2013 with a series of events and promotions in the Salon. Ola would like to thank the following community businesses for their support of the kickoff event:

Duo’s Catering and Events
L’Oreal Professionnel
Oribe Hair Care

Transitional Resources is a nonprofit mental health center serving King County. The agency was founded in 1976 as a residential treatment facility for young adults diagnosed with mental illness. Their programming, which began as one residential treatment program for fifteen, has grown to include six different programs serving over 240 individuals each year. Despite this growth, TR has retained highly personalized care tailored to each individual’s needs. Services are enhanced by a strong sense of community that not only provides natural support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, but inspires hope in men and women who are in the early stages of their recovery.TR highly values work, education, volunteer experiences, and involvement in other meaningful adult activities as important components of recovery. They rely heavily on private funding to maintain the low caseloads critical to their successful outcomes, and would like to express their thanks to Rachel Karlin and Ola Salon for their ongoing support.
