Club Shostakovich returns to Kenyon Hall on Sunday, June 21st, 7:30 pm.

Violist Heather Bentley and cellist Rowena Hammill join forces with Seattle Symphony violinists Nathasha Bazhanov, Artur Girsky, Mikhail Shmidt and Eugene Bazhanov in their ongoing exploration of the fifteen Shostakovich String Quartets. This time it’s the alluring 14th quartet, dedicated to Shostakovich’s cellist friend Sergei Shirinskyof the Moscow based Beethoven Quartet. Moscow-trained violinist Mikhail Shmidt leads this fascinating and tuneful late quartet.

The remainder of the program will be a 20th century romp around Europe, with a circus-like trio by Jean Francaix, Hungarian genius Zoltan Kodaly’s soulful Serenade for 2 violins and viola, and Luciano Berio’s charming character studies for violin duo.

Reserved table seats are $14 and row seating is $12 general and $10 seniors. With a reservation, row seating is only $10 general and $8 seniors. Elementary, middle & high
school students are $5. Pre-school children are free.

To make a reservation, please e-mail kenyonhall@earthlink.net with your request; you’ll receive an e-mail confirming your reservation. For complete program information, please visit www.kenyonhall.org.
