Dog days of summer: Arbor Heights opens pool to pooches

Since our late-arriving summer shows no sign of letting up – people with dogs will want to know about this: Cori sends word that the Arbor Heights Swim and Tennis Club (11003 31st SW) is opening its pool for the second annual water-polo team fundraiser “Dog Days at the Arb.” 5-7 pm next Monday-Friday (Sept. 12-16) and noon-2 pm next Saturday (Sept. 17), you are welcome to bring your dog for a swim. No people in the pool – this comes after it’s been closed for the year – just dogs (but owners have to be there to keep an eye on them). Suggested donation $10/dog; money raised goes to buying new caps for the AH water-polo team. There are other caveats, too – all listed on the official flyer.

Ha! Let’s put the pugs in life jackets and leashes and parade-float them around the outside edge!

I can’t even get into that pool!

Please tell me how you take the chlorine “out”, short, of draining the pool and refilling? I highly doubt the chlorine will hurt any of the dogs; many people with home pools let their dogs swim with-out any issues.

Dogs love pools. My in-laws chocolate lab used to swim in their pool all the time and his hair turned orange from the chlorine!

We are no longer adding additional chlorine, it has not ever caused a problem for my dog and there is a hose available for a post swim rinse. My dog, Elliott, was in for a preview this morning with his buddy Indy and pronouced the water “splendid”
We are looking forward to seeing lots of WS dogs this week!

Sorry, comment time is over.
