3:56 PM: Reader photo added. The car “on two wheels” (as a firefighter described it) is a Volvo SUV, the other car a Honda Civic. The trapped person is reported to be in the Volvo and just “unable to get out.”

Here are more pictures of the scene. You can see beer can and beer boxes under the Honda Civic if you zoom in. The person we think was the passenger in the Civic was stumbling around, seemingly intoxicated.

Basic physics: two bodies of mass cannot occupy the same space at the same time. Slow down and pay attention! You are (supposed to be) controlling a huge hunk of metal. You can’t drive like you’re in a video game.

I’m glad there weren’t children in either car, as scary as this must have been.

      Or in the road/sidewalk.

Not saying this is the cause but the light for Oregon stays red for so long since the bridge re opened. Traffic backs up Oregon from Fauntleroy to the bowling alley. People trying to use the Trader Joes side of 38th to go straight or left are essentially blind with 2 lanes of traffic stopped for a block and the hill blocking the view of oncoming traffic. I have notified SDOT in the past. If you are on the other side of 38th or 39th, it hard to tell if a vehicle is coming up on your left towards you because of the steep downhill of Oregon. Stay safe and don’t use 38th here .

My friend was hit at the crosswalk on 39th and Oregon, specifically because of traffic backups and parking causing low to no visibility. They really need to make that intersection there a 4 way stop to slow traffic down.

That was my white Volvo!  If anyone has video of the incident please email it to the south precinct patrol.  The police are still trying to identify the driver of the civic. They ran the stop sign at a considerable speed and T-Boned me  Huge thanks to all the bystanders and fist responders that helped out!

Yikes! I hope you’re doing okay given the circumstances. This must be turning into quite the ordeal for you.

Did the driver of the car who hit you flee? I drove by this wreck and it was bad! I hope you’re okay. Curious when you say the police are still trying to identify the driver, this suggests to me that the driver fled?

My vehicle was hit and the driver took off in West Seattle last year. My insurance company was able to provide me with the other person’s insurance information and based on their license plate. They paid for everything.
