Just sent by a reader, that photo of a spinout crash in the 5600 block of West Marginal Way SW. The reader said it’s important to remember how slippery it is out right now; they took the photo before emergency responders arrived but said 911 had been called. SFD is on the way after a report that at least one person might be hurt.
Interesting, I thought the 30mph speed limit on Marginal would be too low to spin out like this in the conditions pictured.
Jay. Most drivers have reverted to its original 40. It was lowered to 30 because of the increased traffic during the high bridge closure and not for any other reasons. And yes, it’s possible to spin out at 30. With oil on the surface and or bald tires.
I’ve been alarmed – but somehow, not surprised – at how fast and aggressive many drivers have been today on these wet roads. There are consequences!
I work near this and the blue car pulled out of a driveway while a semi was trying to turn it into the driveway. The blue car was making a left around the semi when it hit a pickup truck on the inside lane. The blue car didn’t have a clear view and made the choice to pull out. the pickup truck spun around and crashed into the fence.
Based on your interpretation of the event, it appears the Prius driver might be at fault.
