We already have a great City Attorney.

      • Burgerman November 4, 2025 (10:54 pm)

        That’s very easily debatable… unless you’re MAGA.

        • Rhonda November 5, 2025 (2:48 am)

If holding criminals accountable is MAGA, then I’m MAGA.

It’s not “easily debatable” and the tired old MAGA accusation is merely a sign of poor reasoning and a weak argument.  KUOW did a debate between Evans and Davison and Davison wiped the floor with her.  This is not a position that benefits from wishy-washy idealism, but instead, pragmatic action. The best candidate is the best candidate, regardless of party affiliation.

I agree – Ann Davidson’ came in after years of Pete (what’s his name) low action on crime, identified repeat offenders (about 100 perps) responsible for majority of crime, and accountability began. She stopped the Community Alternative – i.e., held youth accountable for the real hard core crimes they were committing.  The newly elected City Attorney favors this alternative to charging youth – oh, great!  Watch the property crimes trajectory change again for auto theft, robberies, assaults on transit, gang store theft, truancy, etc while this City Attorney reverts to the Community Alternative to Charges.  This is a major reason why people want to leave Seattle:  no Justice for law abiding citizens.

It’s not debatable, it’s flat-out wrong.  Davidson has been terrible, and has zero decisions or policies she can point to that demonstrates any level of achievement during her term.  The one move that made any kind of impact was a policy proposed by her opponent, NTK.  She brags about clearing a case backlog, but did it by dismissing most of the cases.  Good riddance to dead weight.

Get ready for the property tax increase with  Seattle Prop 1: Passing with 76.71% approval.

I truly can’t imagine the type of person who thinks childcare and education aren’t work our tax dollars. And a minuscule amount.

      • Rob November 5, 2025 (4:05 am)

They double the old levy from 680 million to 1.2 billion.  And yes property taxes go up again another  400 bucks this year. In 10 years my taxes  have jumped  from 4000 to now nearly  7800 per year. This is now going  to be tough on all those amazon an Microsoft an all the construction workers that are now out of work in this city. Evan worse  rents will rise for the thousands of new emigrants in or city.

That “minuscule amount” adds up over time. With a high gas tax, high sales tax, Federal income tax, generally high cost of living, a downturned economy, and a not great crime rate, the “minuscule amount” could be the straw that breaks the camel’s back in many cases. The type of person, as you said, that doesn’t want Prop 1 is not a bad person; they’re just being realistic about what they can and can’t do.

If it means supporting education and children, I really don’t mind. At least it isn’t going to Argentina.

You’re always welcome to help advocate for progressive income and capital gains taxes. If our multimillionaires and billionaires were paying their fair share, we wouldn’t need to rely on property owners who are barely getting by.

I’m happy about all of this! 🙂

Th biggest surprise to me is Ann Davidson won her election to become attorney general to be tougher on crime (even though she is only in charge low level offenses in city limits) and now she’s losing by a large margin… wonder why that is? Not long ago majority of Seattlites wanted her as a person who would finally do their part to hold criminals accountable yet now they want to change course and go with a democrat who surely won’t want to prosecute misdemnor crimes and will only lead to more crime in the city. When will voters ever learn that it takes time for positive change, I’d choose Ann Davidson and Harrell any day for a 2nd term to let them continue to build on their first term progress then to start over from scratch with a progressive who will take 5 steps backwards on things and get us closer to square one which is a mess we can’t dig out of to have a clean, crime free city again like it was over a decade ago.

Nice little Blue Wave – a direct rebuke of the abject hatred, ignorance and backwards fascism of the current administration. Way to go, America. Nice to feel HOPE for the first time in a year!

No one ever seems to comment on the purely regressive B&O tax change.  Now the grocery store, where I spend all my money, will face higher taxes and pass them on to me, while the yoga spa, frequented by the rich ladies, will be tax free.  If you can afford $10 ice cream cones or dinners out, great news, the business will be tax-free.  If none of that fits in your budget, too bad for you.  This measure is regressive in the classic sense:  the lower your income, the greater percentage of your income you spend at a business that will face higher taxes.  How is this a good idea?  Seems to reveal the usual fakeness of Seattle progressives.

Please note, the current city attorney’s surname is DAVISON not DAVIDSON. Seems to be a common mistake but in the interest of accuracy, I’m speaking up.
