FYI: Federal-government shutdown questions? Here’s one list of answers

This area’s U.S. House Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a West Seattle resident, has a list of questions/answers about the federal government shutdown, and we’re sharing it in case it’s helpful. The questions addressed on this list are not about the politics of the shutdown but about its effects – questions you might have about federal-government services such as Medicare, Social Security, passport applications, etc. See it here.

U.S. President Donald Trump’s anti-democracy administration shut the government down today, just like they did 7 years ago because they don’t support health care for citizens. They also froze $26 billion for Democratic-leaning states, and threatened a purge of federal workers if they doesn’t get their way. Oh, I almost forgot to mention Congressional Republicans just didn’t even bother to up to their jobs this morning to discuss their differences. Instead, they stomped their feet and went home.

Before you blame Trump for this shut down ( and everything else ), let’s look at the facts. This is a clean CR that keeps the government going as is. Infact, it’s essentially the same CR that both parties voted for under the Biden administration multiple times. However, since the BBB was passed the democrats are now using this platform and attempt to reinstate some of the spending that was taken away in the BBB. BTW, many of the spending requests are from the COVID timetable that were ” temporary ” which the democrats now want to make permanent. Not surprising. Shamefully, the democrats are using this CR to hold the country hostage in hopes of spending more money. Pass the CR and negotiate your bloated, extreme spending with a real budget.

You must be talking about the BBB that raised taxes on the people, scrapped needed programs for the people and lowered taxes for corporations and the wealthy.

Ah yes, just an ordinary CR for ordinary times. Ignore the President who is covering up his involvement in raping children. Ignore ICE declaring war on democratic cities and terrorizing innocent people. Ignore the destruction of the DOJ, USAID, FBI, HHS, DoE and more. Just rubber stamp it.

Yes,  blame them democrats for holding the congress and senate and still can’t pass any legislation for the people.  Only take away from the people and make the rich even richer. The BBB did nothing but hurt the average American. But go ahead and blame the democrats, seems to be the gop way,  blame everybody else for the crap you are doing to the people.
