CRIME WATCH FOLLOWUP: Suspects arrested in West Seattle teen stabbing

A 17-year-old girl and 15-year-old boy are in juvenile detention, accused in the Puget Ridge stabbing attack on a 17-year-old girl early July 5. (We originally reported the attack here.) Seattle Police say this morning that the suspects were taken into custody by Marysville Police as a result of the SPD investigation of the attack. According to documents we’ve obtained from the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, both appeared in court Wednesday afternoon. The KCPAO says the judge found probable cause to hold them for investigation of attempted second-degree murder. A decision on charges is likely tomorrow; their next hearing is tentatively set for Monday. According to a crowdfunding page created by the victim’s sister, she was attacked at the home of her 83-year-old grandfather, and in addition to seriously injuring the victim, the attack caused major damage at the house.

Sounds like an incredible judge that actually holds people accountable for their actions. This shook the neighborhood, my friend lives a block from the house and nobody knew exactly what was happening at the time. Terrifying. Praying the girl makes a full recovery.

The judge is following the law, as they all should.  Activist judges are bad.  Juvenile criminal cases work differently than adult ones do.

Forget the Juvenile system, Send them straight to the big house!

Try to be less giddy about destroying the lives of literal children.  You’re putting me in a position I have to defend people charged with assault.

Oh, give me a break! Know whose life has been destroyed? The victim’s. Don’t pretend these almost-adults didn’t understand that stabbing someone repeatedly was wrong.

No, you actually don’t. They tried to kill someone, horrifically and in our legal system we have the ability to charge these children as adults. Also, this is more than getting into a small spat, they stabbed the person multiple times, intentionally. Just stop with feeling the need to defend them and realize that you’re not doing them or anyone else a favor by defending them.

This nonsense is hard to sort, it looks like you’re arguing with yourself and losing. Perhaps your love for our legal system will extend to learning enough about it to understand that the accused have only been accused of a crime.

Did you know that in our country they have a right to a trial? Your words are libelous but I doubt you actually care about law.

P.S. use a unique user name, what?

Were are the parents?  They need to be in the dock answering for their children’s actions.

They were at the hearing, according to the documents (brief – different rules for forms from juvenile hearings).

        They must be so proud.

As I’m sure yours are, seeing how you choose to comport yourself when talking to strangers, whose circumstances you know nothing of.

This was a particularly disturbing attack. Pure evil. I hope the 17 year-old is eventually charged as an adult. Both deserve very long sentences as they are an extreme danger to the public.

    • Neighbor July 10, 2025 (1:39 pm)

What’s the justification for changing the rules for some minors?  Why should they be treated as adults?  Are all assaults treated as adult?

How are you so certain long sentences reduce danger to the public?

      • EJ July 10, 2025 (7:38 pm)

I mean, if they’re locked up, they can’t do this to someone else. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that one out.

      • Neighbor July 11, 2025 (11:20 am)

Um… attempting to murder someone, maybe?

    • EJ July 10, 2025 (3:19 pm)

They should be. Under the auto-decline statute, if a 16-17 year old commits a serious violent offense (of which attempted murder is one), the adult criminal court has exclusive jurisdiction.

The youth these days are cold. Many have a complete disregard for anyone but themselves. I’m happy to hear they have these two in custody. Now they just need to be held accountable. I hope the victim recovers soon.
