BIZNOTE FOLLOWUP: Total Wine & More announces Westwood Village opening date

Thanks for the tip! We’ve just gone over to Westwood Village to confirm it and get a photo – Total Wine & More, in the northeast corner of the center, has posted its opening date and time: 9 am Friday, May 30. We have been tracking the development of the store, in the former Staples space, since first discovering the plan in city permit files 13 months ago. More info to come …

Great.  A store full of alcohol.  Just what the neighborhood needed.

-also cigars(hopefully) and non alcoholic beverages too! Yay!! Aren’t you  worried about alcohol also being sold at other stores in WWV? Rite  Aid, Target, & QFC

You’re kind of making my point for me there, Anne.  There are already plenty of places to get alcholic products in that area.  It’s a shame that we can’t have something else that complements the shopping center instead.

Now that’s what I call a Total Whine

We’re not living in the 1920s – alcohol is totally legal and I don’t see a problem with responsible drinking.

    • My two cents May 16, 2025 (4:57 pm)

Would you have preferred an empty storefront?

You’re totally right, complete waste of space. It would be so much better if a pizza restaurant moved in.

I hope they have 24 hour security guards on premise!

Thanks, WSB, been wondering when they’d open

How hard is it to say Welcome to a new business? Wish them the best. I’ll be there to check out their non-alcoholic selections & hoping they have cigars like the one at Southcenter-my brother loves a good cigar occasionally.

So excited to have this in my neighborhood. And to those worried about security: pretty sure this multibillion dollar company has thought through the issue more than anyone in the comments.

Premium cigars for my husband! Imported Shandy and wine tasting classes for me!

  • Rob May 16, 2025 (3:37 pm)

A good  selection of import beers I hope

  • E May 16, 2025 (4:39 pm)

Yay! Super excited to have this kind of selection right here in WS

  • Kt May 16, 2025 (5:27 pm)

Excellent.  They have a good selection of non alcoholic beer for us non alkies

    • My two cents May 17, 2025 (1:05 pm)

Kt … nice backhanded comment, speaking as one of those “alkies” … I’m sure you didn’t mean to be “non offensive”.

Let’s look at the positive side, more jobs, more tax revenue for the state, we have those sin taxes … A non-empty store front brings more shopping to the area, Their selections are much larger than the grocery stores. They carry an extensive selection of items produced in Washington State, again more money for local businesses.

While I don’t personally mind the store, they have amazing N/A options, I do feel Westwood is already a situation with theft, now we add a big liquor store- should be interesting. And right next to a child care center.

Children from the daycare can’t enter Total Wine and more, but QFC, Target, and Rite Aid sell alcohol and allow unaccompanied minors to roam freely.

      • WKW May 19, 2025 (6:40 pm)

Well they can if their parents bring them. Which sounds like what you were trying to say. I do wish children weren’t allowed in liquor stores at all. Only because many parents have a tendency to forget they have their children with them and let them roam like it’s a grocery store.  Kinda wish liquor stores banned parents that can’t mind their children when they drag them in there.

I really like the classes that Total Wine offers and I hope they provide them at this location.

  • WSB_Enjoyer May 22, 2025 (12:40 pm)

Excited to see this open! It’ll be nice to have more liquor and beer options than what the grocery stores typically offer. The Total Wine in Northgate often offered free wine and beer tastings on weekends, as well as taps and a counter to have a drink–hoping this location does the same!

Sorry, comment time is over.
