WEST SEATTLE CRIME WATCH: Second SW Brandon gunfire incident in less than 24 hours

For the second time in less than 24 hours, police are investigating gunfire on SW Brandon. After multiple 911 calls about half an hour ago, an officer told dispatch they just found casings at 26th/Brandon. No report of injuries.

Where did they find the shell casings on 26th?It sounded like 10 rounds automatic rifle

Definitely heard these yet again. Seemed like quite a few shots fired. Wondering if any of the neighbors door cams will be able to get a good picture of the cars that are driving by doing this. Getting to the point that walking in the neighborhood after dark is no longer safe.

I believe our neighbor across the street got video of two cars with his security camera but I don’t think it was clear enough to be of much use

The shots were fired in the wooded area between SW Brandon and Juneau.Aparently, casings were found on SW Brandon between the entrance to camp long and Greg Davis park. The police confirmed that only vehicle in the area that I saw was not involved. I am appalled because I have lived in cities way larger than Seattle with significantly less resources to tackle safety issues and I was not endangered by gunfire several times in a month. I actually never heard any gunfire in years in those cities. If anyone has information please contact the police to assist in the investigation. Be kind to others and I am glad no one appears to be hurt.

Yup. Local police told us that ever since there was a big fentanyl bust at a house on 26th (south of Brandon – which was part of a big, coordinated West Coast bust) 18 months ago there’s been a turf war going on among local gangs. We live at that corner, needless to say we’re tired of hearing gunshots.

I would like to ask the Seattle Police Department, (not the Seattle city counsel or the mayor’s office) what is needed in order to apprehend these criminals? What tools and resources the SPD needs to find and arrest these people? What is necessary to stop this violent activity?

I’ve heard a couple cops talk about being frustrated that the people they do catch just get released super fast. I can imagine that’s not super motivating

Does that mean the police have decided to stop doing the investigations that would be needed to apprehend criminals? Honest question! I am sure the police are “frustrated” but, does that mean they’ve either individually or collectively decided to stop doing their jobs?

Read the story on here from the Village Green community safety meeting that happened last week. You can hear the frustrations from the SPD Spokesperson and also the SPO that was at the meeting, or should I say “read between the lines”. Nothing is going to change until the laws are changed back to where the bad guys are bad guys and not just a catch and release program. https://westseattleblog.com/2025/04/neighbors-share-concerns-ideas-with-spd-at-community-safety-meeting-in-westwood/#respond

Wait, are the police saying that they can’t investigate and apprehend criminals who are shooting hundreds of rounds into neighborhoods – because they think that a judge might release somebody who’s been arrested and charged? Again: serious question! Are the police not investigating this crime because of this theory I’ve seen espoused in comments sections, lately? In other words, are the police not investigating crimes until they get their legislative agenda passed? Who is in control in this city? Hmm? As far as I’m aware there is zero legislation preventing police from investigating gun crimes in Seattle.

With the ease of getting guns in this country, I can’t see how this problem will ever go away.  Sad to live in these times of lawlessness…like the days of old

Imagine if they actually enforced laws when criminals use or possess guns? Oh, to dream. Even wilder, can you imagine if our legislators had the backbone to pass laws increasing penalties for such infractions?

Are you assuming that criminals are tracking sentences for their planned crimes and adjusting their behavior accordingly or do you think there’s a limited supply of criminals and if we lock up enough we’ll be safe?

Yeah, police are arriving in the area now to investigate after dispatch reported several calls. Will as usual post separately if we hear confirmation.
