UPDATE: Crash at Fauntleroy/Alaska

3:35 PM: Thanks for the tips. SFD and SPD are on the scene of what was dispatched as a three-vehicle collision at Fauntleroy/Alaska, said to be blocking most of the intersection (partly shown in traffic-cam screenshot above), so avoid that area for a while.

4:20 PM: Metro alerts indicate traffic is flowing again. We’re checking with SFD on whether anyone was hurt.

5:29 PM: SFD tells us one person was checked out, a woman in her early 60s, and that she did not need further treatment.

Here’s another angle from Trader Joe’s parking lot there’s since been a police officer that’s shown up to redirect traffic

Dang man, my dad was there behind the car that got T-boned. Glad nobody was seriously hurt.

I can’t wait for the day that they finally figure out a safer way to lay out that intersection. There’s also the Trader Joe parking lot backups that add to the mess.

Speed bumps on southbound Fauntleroy. The way drivers rip around that curve is terrifying. When I’m on foot waiting for the signal by Whole Foods to cross Fauntleroy I either stand way back from the curb or behind a light pole.

Me too! I do this same thing.

That’s more dangerous in or near an intersection than the actual speeding cars themselves. It’s not going to happen.

Trader Joe’s needs to change the parking area or people near to not block all the traffic trying to get in , it’s a mess

There have never been flips and accidents like there is now. Never has it been legal or allowed to take a left turn any where on Fauntleroy. It’s a straight arterial. Now drivers try to cut threw 4 lanes of traffic despite the 2 solid yellow lines. Stop the madness no turns across lanes on Fauntleroy.

That intersection does not allow left turns from either direction on Fauntleroy. It’s very clearly marked. Drivers on Alaska are allowed to make left turns but only one direction of traffic is moving at a time. Based on being at this corner multiple times a day and watching traffic, I’m going to guess that a likely answer is someone either ran a red light or they didn’t stay in their lane on Fauntleroy. Turning is not likely to cause an accident here.

This is totally incorrect. Are you trolling? You cannot make a left at Alaska from Fauntleroy going either northeast or south, but elsewhere on Fauntleroy you are absolutely allowed to make a left. You can make lefts onto cross streets, and even into businesses where you completely have to cross the single double yellow striped line. It is 100% legal. Look it up. Also – that is the reason we have a center turn lane south of Dawson. What else would that lane be there for?

Vee agreed TJ’s parking lot is a mess.  It could be easily fixed by re-orienting the traffic flow for back in angle parking instead of front end.  Back in parking is safer and more efficient!

It’s the worst. No one can see there are available spots deeper in the lot and insist on waiting on the sidewalk blocking literally everything. Thankful I can walk to TJs but am in earshot of constant frustrated honk/horns. Ppl forget we’re neighbors.

Sorry, comment time is over.
