Police activity blocking Cloverdale/ 1st Ave- any idea? Bus is blocked.

Hi, sorry to miss in real time; it appears there was an investigation of possible gunfire. No injury callouts.

The signal light on 35th Ave SW and SW Raymond St is malfunctioning. Cars traveling on 35th have constant green but pedestrians and cars who want to cross the 35 by the High Point library never get a green light. This started yesterday around 5 pm.

Thanks! Please report to SDOT if you haven’t already in case they don’t know – 206-684-ROAD.

I reported to Find It, Fix It just now.  If many people can report that would be great.   I sat waiting going west on Raymond on yesterday and this morning it wasn’t responsive either.

I called it in to 206-684-ROAD this morning as it was creating a very unsafe condition–  people driving and walking there were stuck between turning around or detouring and jaywalking / making illegal moves.  They said they’d send someone out and I really hope they have.

Find it fix it is a crap shoot. Know people who’ve gotten a quick response. Have a patch of VERY broken up pavement near my home. So far have sent 12 reports to find it fix it and…6 months later:NOTHING.

That light is always jacked up. Just a few weeks ago when I was traveling 35th repeatedly at all different hours, it had a nasty habit of just throwing a red up in your face with no pedestrians and no cars on Raymond, and with light to almost no traffic on 35th. Pretty ridiculous. If it’s intentional, what’s the point? All it’s doing is increasing wear and tear on cars, increasing vehicle emissions, and needlessly delaying drivers when there’s absolutely no reason to.

    Would this rule apply?

    RCW 46.61.184
Bicycle, moped, or street legal motorcycle at intersection with inoperative vehicle detection device.

Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, the operator of a bicycle, moped, or street legal motorcycle approaching an intersection, including a left turn intersection, that is controlled by a triggered traffic control signal using a vehicle detection device that is inoperative due to the size or composition of the bicycle, moped, or street legal motorcycle shall come to a full and complete stop at the intersection. If the traffic control signal, including the left turn signal, as appropriate, fails to operate after one cycle of the traffic signal, the operator may, after exercising due care, proceed directly through the intersection or proceed to turn left, as appropriate. It is not a defense to a violation of RCW 46.61.050 that the operator of a bicycle, moped, or motorcycle proceeded under the belief that a traffic control signal used a vehicle detection device or was inoperative due to the size or composition of the bicycle, moped, or motorcycle when the signal did not use a vehicle detection device or that any such device was not in fact inoperative due to the size or composition of the bicycle, moped, or motorcycle. For purposes of this section, “bicycle” includes a bicycle, as defined in RCW 46.04.071, and an electric-assisted bicycle, as defined in RCW 46.04.169.

If you are on a bicycle, moped, or street legal motorcycle…

      • bolo March 27, 2024 (1:49 pm)

Yes I usually am, Sarge. You?

        • Sarge March 29, 2024 (9:48 am)

Well there you go. I walk.  And would so prefer not to jaywalk at that busy intersection!

Sorry, comment time is over.
