About the police response at 35th/Morgan

Thanks for the tips/questions about a big police response at 35th/Morgan. We went over to find out what was going on. Police say they got a report of a fight involving at least one person with a gun. No shots reported fired but the reportedly armed person is being questioned.

Oh how I would have enjoyed seeing the groups of men that hang out in Walgreens parking lot scramble when they heard the sirens. :)

This is a weird thing to enjoy.

You would have loved the South in the 1920s!

What a weird remark. Do you think this comment is race-related? Am I understanding it correctly? Because race isn’t mentioned until you bring it up. So I gotta wonder what kind of person automatically puts race into a conversation where it didn’t previously exist. I feel like there’s a word for that. You might like the south in the 1920’s, JM

Adam, I think you’ll find that you are the one who brought race into the discussion, but you did it in a bit of a weird way, pretending it was not the subject and accusing me of making it the subject, which you imply makes me a racist. Maybe you’re right. At the same time, if you think Sillygoose shivering in delight as they visualize a bunch of mostly young black men scrambling to flee from police does not involve race, you’re joking yourself softly.

If you didn’t read the dog whistle racism in that post, you aren’t paying attention Adam.

While it’s weird that someone delights in the fear of others a lot of the losers that hang out there make life really hard for the workers at the Walgreens and the gas station with their anti social macho BS. In particular the dudes who run the mini mart there deal with a lot of nonsense day in and day out from the losers on that corner.

I’ve heard that folks have complained about those guys hanging out there. Was told the owners have known a bunch of em since waaaaaaay back and their response is that they’re generally good guys and not much trouble. I tend to agree as I’ve been in and out of that store for years, but as I’ve passed the dumpster in the alley I can for sure say I’ve seen things kids shouldn’t see, lots and lots of things, some of them very illegal things.

I’ve seen one of the brothers of that gas station chasing some of the losers who hang out there out of his store while swinging a large lock on the end of a heavy chain, those guys have to deal with a lot of nonsense even if most of the people who come in and out are fine and ‘not much trouble’. How much trouble are you allowed to be and still be a ‘pretty good guy’?

Delight in the fear of others because they would be running as they are up to no good. That intersection of 35th and Morgan and the properties near it have been a magnet for trouble since I can remember, and I am 51. And it was worse 30 years ago. Lots of violent crimes happened at or near that mini mart.

Sorry, comment time is over.
