TRAFFIC ALERT: Eastbound Roxbury reopened after 8+ hours

We’re updating this separately since our previous coverage was in the morning traffic watch: Eastbound Roxbury has finally reopened between 8th SW and Olson Place, more than 8 hours after some kind of spill slickened the road and led authorities to close it. We’ll be following up tomorrow to see what they determined had happened and why it took so long to clean up.

I drove Eastbound Roxbury at 2:40pm. One lane was open heading down the hill, sand covered the run in both lanes. Work actively was done at the top, furthest east point of Roxbury.

on the radio, they reported an Oil Spill

  That was the general description, oil or fuel spill. What exactly, how, etc., we will be asking when government offices reopen tomorrow.
