WHALES: Orcas in the area again today

Orcas are in central Puget Sound again today, Kersti Muul reports. They’ve already passed south West Seattle and are headed – still southbound – toward Three Tree Point, she says, but at some point they’ll have to head back this way, so be on the lookout and let us know if you see them!

Should we be hoping Ruckus stays on the beach away from these passing apex predators?

Yes – if you’re a fan of elephant seals. From Orca Network on Facebook, I see that these current visitors are the Transient Orcas who primarily feed on marine mammals and squid (from the NOAA website).
