About the police response at 35th/Webster

Thanks for the tips about a large police response in the 35th/Webster vicinity. We got there just as it was wrapping up. Police tell us it was a “person in crisis” situation, resolved safely, with a man being taken to Harborview for a mental-health evaluation.

Why are SPD Officers still responding to these “person in conflict” calls  in Lisa Herbold’s West Seattle?
Why aren’t we seeing mental health professionals providing these services,  with SPD as back up?
I have had the unfortunate  experience with the SPD responding to my partner in distress.
Police are often not calming or desirable  for this type of intervention and often leave without resolving the issue.

Guns drawn when I drove by. I’m glad he didn’t get shot.

I can tell you there is no one more happy someone didn’t get shot than those officers other than the person in crisis.

Ignorant comment. There were over 17,000 crises calls in seattle last year that SPD responded to. How many people were shot?

Sorry, comment time is over.
