Thanks for the tip! Northbound 35th SW is blocked at Kenyon until a tow truck arrives for a flipped car. The original callout was “rescue extrication” but most of the units were canceled quickly. Police tell us the driver hit a parked car and his car flipped. No major injuries.

Surprised the police report made no mention of the flipped car’s driver attempting to flee the scene, being tackled and restrained until SPD arrived.
That might be in the police report, when it’s filed. Our report is based on talking to police at the scene while they were still talking to the driver, and they didn’t mention anything like that.

The driver was extremely intoxicated and tried to flee as mentioned above. Luckily no one was hurt.
He was not fleeing the accident gave him head injury and he crawled out and thought the vehicle was going to catch fire and explode. He had an injury in the left side of the head and head trauma, his knees were all cut up from crawling out of the car.
I have difficulty understanding the physics of how a moving car hitting a parked car can cause the moving car to flip….why doesn’t the moving car just smash into the parked car, how does the flip get started?

Thanks zark00 for the link to the youtube car flip….interesting to see how it happens. No one even stops in the video (that we can see) to see if the driver is OK or needs help getting out. The person using the cross walk is stuck in the middle of the street unable to cross due to the steady stream of cars that won’t pause….I hope West Seattle drivers don’t become like the drivers in that place!!
I was surprised no one was hurt in the curbside restaurant. Many restaurants put their tables on a curbside this is not safe.
He was at the Kenyon Hall restaurant being served food and who know what’s else. I know because he told me.
I’m convinced car manufacturers have been making their sedans and coupes more top-heavy in recent years.

He was only a few blocks away from home and this happens and you would not wish this on anyone.
Family, Are you saying he should have been allowed to continue running home after driving drunk and flipping his car? Apparently because he is so close to home, his drunk driving should be forgiven? I would hope “Family” replies with a correction suggesting he should have walked. And if he is a big drinker, walk both to and from the bar.
Trust, other family and friends have suggested it and have even gone out of their way to arrange rides and the imbecile still decides to make poor choices.
TRUE THAT. “Family” is very in-denial of this irresponsible mans behavior.
