UPDATE: Postal protests at Westwood Village, West Seattle Junction

9:58 AM: That’s one of the signs Ruth says you’ll see at the Westwood Village Post Office (2721 SW Trenton) at 11 am today. She just sent word of a protest planned there as part of the nationwide “day of action,” with USPS supporters rallying outside post offices at 11 am local time. (The nationwide lookup doesn’t [yet] show any planned events in West Seattle.)

12:10 PM: We went to WWV about half an hour ago to see how it turned out:

In the other Washington today, the U.S. House is considering a bill that would reverse some recent USPS changes.

2:12 PM: Just learned that a group gathered at the Post Office in The Junction, too.

Thanks to Alison for sending the photo!

I mailed my mom a small “if it fits it ships” package to North Seattle yesterday afternoon. It was at her house at 10:30 a.m.
    U S Postal Service rocks!

In June I sent a card (with extra postage) to a relative in Phoenix. It took three weeks to get there. I assumed it had been stolen as it contained a gift card. Wondering if this has to do with sort machine removal…..

Mitch Mcconnel would not allow Obama to make any appointments. As a result, the USPS board of Governors was empty when Rhump took office in 2016.  The Board of Governors are ALL now Trump appointees, who voted in Dejoy (a Trump campaign donor).  Dejoy’s and the republicans’ goal is to slow down the mail, raise prices, and privatize USPS out of business.  FEDEX, UPS, and Pitney Bowes couldn’t be happier.

My packages have been taking 3  weeks to arrive instead of the usual 5to 7 days and I’m still waiting on a check which has always arrived on the 19 th . I would have gone to the protest if I had known about it. I don’t blame the carriers, they must be frustrated too !

Many thanks to the protesters! These decisions are being made by people who think nothing of sending overnight FedEx letters for $30 a pop and have no understanding or care for those who must rely on cheaper methods.

Postman told me the start times are being changed this month. Going to start routs later, so does that mean it will take longer to do routs if they start later  ?

Writing letters to your representatives does more than making a scene at the post office. Voting your values does even more.

People can do both! Doing something publicly visible brings attention to the issue and hopefully more supporters. It also builds morale for the workers. I know my postal carrier was touched by our support.

Sorry, comment time is over.
