The lower bridge opening during commute times is ridiculous.  Other bridges in the city have ordinances. The sad thing is the person in charge of the schedules has been recycled through the government system too much to care. Paul JacksonBridges and Roadway Structurespaul.jackson@seattle.gov(206) 684-8325

SDOT management has absolutely nothing to do with the bridge-opening schedule; we’ve covered this time and time again over the years. In fact, as also covered many times, the city has tried to get some restrictions on its opening, but maritime traffic has priority and the US Coast Guard has denied requests to limit that

WSB is right. The city has NO control overe bridge openings. Complaining to the wrong people may give you a warm feeling but really does have no effect.

I think rather than publicly shaming people in government about a situation over which they have no control we should publicly shame commenters who pop off without knowing what they’re talking about.

Or, have city personnel provide citizens the correct information who to contact. And, have the person reply to any of the emails that they are the incorrect person. Also, remove factual information on the internet about their job performance. You can shame me all you want on me. I stand by the information I was given or acquired.  Hope you find the irony in wanting to shame me without know the whole picture.

WSea, there isn’t anyone to contact at the city regarding bridge opening times. The city has about as much control over that as a weatherman has over the rain. All they can do is say “pretty please don’t open during rush hour” to the Coast Guard, which they have done many times. Like it or not, a ship or barge with millions of dollars in cargo is more important than you in your single occupant vehicle, and federal law requires them to open the bridge for marine traffic upon request.
