SEEN OFF WEST SEATTLE: Aircraft carrier USS Nimitz, heading home

Thanks to @macjustice for tweeting the photo – that’s the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz, headed home to Bremerton. It’s been gone for almost three weeks, including a stop in San Diego, where a 21-year-old sailor was killed in a fall onboard. MarineTraffic.com shows the Nimitz currently rounding the south end of Bainbridge Island, heading into Rich Passage.

Are there any other Aircraft Carrier Ships under construction.
I think that it would be best to build a new one.
There should be at least Fourteen of the Aircraft Carrier Ships in Service.
Maybe Fifteen Carrier Ships should be in the Navy.
Can’t they use old retired Aircraft Carrier Ships just for carrying helicopters and drones ??

Even though we have secret abilities ( Gatling lasers ) to protect our carriers,  it wont be enough with submarines & hypersonic missile coming at us. In 1979 we – Honeywell DSD, were working on a defence curtain that shielded carrier’s from all kinetic weapons (above & below water) but couldn’t launch jets while system was engaged. I beleive now the friction problems have been worked out. It’s always been, the best weapons stay secret.

Wow Will interesting. I served aboard the Nimitz when she was new. 1976-1978. Commissioned in 1975 and then carrier qualifications getting her ready for the first cruise. I believe it was November 1977.

Sorry, comment time is over.
