TRAFFIC ALERT: West Seattle Bridge trouble

1:04 PM: No SDOT alert on this yet but via the scanner we’ve heard about West Seattle Bridge trouble from/to the Fauntleroy end – jersey barriers knocked out of place, affecting both directions. There’s also a backup reported toward the east end of the bridge after a crash near the exit to southbound I-5.

1:39 PM: Now SFD and SPD are responding to a one-vehicle crash reported on the westbound bridge at the Delridge exit.

Just passed a 6-8 car accident scene on I-5 south at the west Seattle bridge. Two tow trucks but still some really big damage to many vehicles.

This is slightly off topic, but coming up the hill onto Fauntleroy Way  from the WS Bridge this afternoon, I noticed that a couple of the Jersey barriers (separating East from West bound lanes) have been knocked out almost past the shoulder.  One was jutting out and could easily be hit.  This would be west bound on WSB/Fauntleroy Way–before you reach the new sign for WS.

Westbound as you make the turn, just prior to the people walking on logs, the jersey barrier is definitely protruding into the left lane.  If you aren’t careful you could easily hit it.  Especially since it’s on the corner and you don’t get a good view to avoid it until the last few seconds.

Sorry, comment time is over.
