UPDATE: Kitchen fire in Morgan Junction

10:17 AM: Seattle Fire says the “fire in building” callout at Cal-Mor Circle in Morgan Junction (the cylindrical apartment building at 6420 California SW) is a kitchen fire. They’re on scene “working to extinguish” it.

10:24 AM: Fire is reported to be “tapped” (out).

    Just saw 9+ emergency vehicles on the bridge heading towards the fire. Seems like a big response. Hope all are ok.

      As always with a fire in a building, the initial call is big, easier to pull back than to add. Incident log indicates all but two units (Engine 32 and Ladder 11) have been dismissed. – TR

    I’ve shared this here before in comment threads where readers are curious as to why SFD sends out such a large response, and WSB and possibly others have also referred to it. This is from 2010, and I don’t recall if this is actually what inspired SFD to adopt a “Full Response” policy (perhaps WSB knows/remembers), but it shows what can happen when not enough units are dispatched, and, even though, how rare it might be, terrible coincidences occur resulting in tragedy. Warning: this is a difficult read.
