Car-on-side crash in south Morgan Junction

Thanks to Amber for the photo. This car-on-side crash happened in the 6900 block of California SW in south Morgan Junction (map) a little over half an hour ago. No serious injuries reported – one SFD engine was sent and it closed out of the call relatively quickly; Amber reports that the driver appears OK and is talking to police. Avoid the area for a while.

    Doesn’t gravity relate to a downward force? (Earth’s gravitational pull) I mean,yeah,if you’re caught you’re going down but I think that’s different.

Rick: Quite right. Seems much more about inertia and centrifugal force than gravity. (Pedantic note: Gravity is not an Earth-only force. It’s also not always “downward” though that’s the relative direction we assign to it. For instance, if you were on the International Space Station looking back at our planet, and could observe two people dropping a rock – one in Seattle and one in, say, New Zealand – the direction of travel of those falling rocks would not be the same.

And rain is in the forecast, greatly anticipated by car body repair shops. It’s like a predator waiting for a prey animal not paying attention. First rain after a long dry spell = ice skating rink!

Visibility was really poor at the time because of the fog. I think a car traveling north on California (downhill) collided with a car traveling east from Othello, near Cafe Ladro. I live south of where the accident occurred and was in Thriftway (north of the accident) when the it occurred. California Ave was closed and I had to return home via 35th.

There was a lot of fog. However, I drove by immediately following the accident and stopped to see if I could help. From my understanding, the driver of the rolled over car was driving south on California after stopping at Mcdonald’s and somehow hit two parked cars on the west side of the street.

Sorry, comment time is over.
