Bonus outdoor movie this week! Roxhill Park on Friday

We’ve been reporting on the community members and neighbors working to bring more events to Roxhill Park. The next one is the first Family Movie Night in the park, this Friday (August 24th)! The movie is the animated classic Wall-E.” If you haven’t already seen it in our calendar, here’s the invitation from Roxhill Park Champions:

Bring blankets and low chairs to the central lawn in Roxhill Park starting at 7:30 pm.
Show starts at dusk just after 8:15 pm. Children must be with an adult to watch the film.

Popcorn, sweets, and bottled water will be provided to the first 100 attendees.

The film screening and refreshments are being brought to you by the community-led Roxhill Park Champions in partnership with the Seattle Parks Commons Program.

The park is at 29th/Barton.

Will this event be cancelled if the smoke conditions are harmful for families? If not, why not?

Hi. Air quality by Friday is currently forecast to be better after smokiness early in the week. Note the cloudiness expected on Thursday:

@H_CLAY: Sheesh! Straight out of the gate with the whining… “If not why?”… I sure hope the event would not be cancelled due to smoke. Please! No one is forcing anyone to attend with their families. Its a choice. If you don’t want to because you feel unsafe, then stay home indoors—that is your choice. No reason others who feel safe should not be able to enjoy.

I’d like to reply to H_Clay here: The screening is a community service created by a volunteer group at RoxhillPark.org for the community.  Like all volunteer groups, we are work hard in our spare time to find resources to both contract and organize these types of events aimed to build community. In short it takes time and dedication.  Now that you have heard our side your support would be appreciated.

Sorry, comment time is over.
