COFFEE, PAST & PRESENT: Shuttered shop for sale on Alki; new shop headed for Admiral

Two coffee-related notes:

(WSB photo from March)

EX-TULLY’S FOR SALE: Almost four months after Tully’s Coffee closed on Alki, the 2676 Alki SW building it had been renting for more than a decade is listed for sale. The flyer says you have to call the listing agent to inquire about the price, and also notes that leasing the space is an option too. Tully’s was officially evicted from the building, as it has been from others around the metro area, some weeks after the sudden shutdown. (Thanks to Jonathan French for the tip.)

NEW COFFEE SHOP FOR NORTH ADMIRAL: That’s what’s on the way to the space next to Mioposto at 2141 California SW:

The mortgage broker who originally was in the space has moved to Sunrise Heights. Documents on file with the city say the coffee shop for which the space is now being renovated will be called West Seattle Grounds. We have a message out in hopes of finding out more.

That will make three coffee shops at California and Walker. Café Fiore, The Nook, and this one.

The Alki Building should be a fast food restaurant, like a Taco del Mar or something serving authentic latin food.

Well shucks I wish I had the money for my dream business a old fashioned candy shop. Could be great there summer Christmas Halloween etc. I also thought of a juice bar – a real one like The Gravity Bar which I miss horribly. Please God no more Starbucks or Microbrewery!

Ever since I heard they were remodeling the building a few years ago I thought it the perfect coffee shop building. The last place looked fairly stripmallish inside. Here’s to hoping the new place will be nice inside to match the wonderful character of the outside (like Mioposto has done).Guess we like our woodfired pizza and coffee. I bet there’s room for another coffeeshop here despite the competition. Now just give us a painted crosswalk at that intersection!

Agree on painted crosswalk… or maybe even a light. I cross this street often and it is unsafe. The actual crosswalk down by College Ave is kind of useless  because people fly by you even when you’re in the middle of the street. So maybe a light like the one in the Junction would be good.

Sorry, comment time is over.
