Thinking about a pickup game? Not on Seattle Parks athletic fields today

Still slushy out there, so Seattle Parks has officially closed its athletic fields today. Otherwise, the only West Seattle facility on the Seattle Parks closure list today is Southwest Teen Life Center.

Wow.  When I was a youngster playing pick up football in the snow was fun.  Now kids aren’t being allowed to play, ridiculous!

Well, the city’s announcement was via Twitter so fairly short but there are generally a few concerns – either injury or damage to the field or both. They also close athletic fields when there’s heavy rain. – TR

Just as the snow began to melt, I saw a family playing football at Hiawatha. It’s turf there so no damage to the field (I imagine) or risk of mud. Lots of snowpeople. I didn’t notice any police monitoring the situation either.

I go to that Park frequently, and I have never once seen a game of pick up football happening.

I don’t know which park you’re referring to, but this was a closure of all athletic fields (West Seattle alone has several).

Sorry, comment time is over.
