LAST CALL: Take the Delridge RapidRide survey that’s also about road reconfiguration

As first reported here three weeks ago, SDOT is circulating the “Delridge RapidRide Expansion Survey.” It’s set to close tomorrow (Monday). But it’s not only about buses – you’re asked for your thoughts on Delridge, featuring the graphics below, showing its current configuration:

The survey wants you to prioritize transportation options on each of those Delridge Way sections – including transit, walking, biking, and/or parking. It’s meant to look ahead to the RR route expected on Delridge within the next few years; the survey intro says, “Delridge Way SW is one of the corridors on which we’d like to make bus service better. We also have an opportunity to make it safer and more comfortable for people walking, biking, driving, and delivering goods.” If you haven’t already taken the survey, go here ASAP.

With all of these road projects is there any coordination with Sound Traffic about where the light rail is going to go?

Sense isn’t common anymore. Just go back to two lanes each direction so the bus doesn’t stop in the middle of the road every 1/4 mile blocking traffic, meanwhile the passengers exiting the bus now are looking at their phones and running around in the street.

    Pedestrian access from the east.

A Rapid Ride line along Delridge will be a very nice amenity for the eastern side of the peninsula. It would successfully serve many more people with better pedestrian access from the top of the hill to the east. There are few staircases down the hill along this stretch and far between. The sidewalk connecting 21st and Delridge is dangerous with no separation from the typically broken 30mph speed limit of the car traffic. Walking to Delridge, especially in these dark winter months, from the east along this stretch is a real adventure, daunting enough to keep many from using a prospective Rapid Ride line.

Sorry, comment time is over.
