West Seattle Christmas lights, for laughs

ditto

The first West Seattle Christmas-lights photo of the season might just be the funniest, even before we see what else is out there. The house on the right is where Dawnelle lives, toward the south end of Seola Beach Drive:

We brought all the guests outside, the neighbors too, and we did the drumroll noise and plugged it in. It was awesome fun!

This season, we would love to showcase lots of lights – send a photo of what you see, plus the location (or if you don’t have a pic, at least tell us where!) – editor@westseattleblog.com – thanks!

Huge thanks to my handyman, Caleb Floyd! And of course to my neighbors who provide the neighborhood with great lights every year.

One string of 100 traditional mini light bulbs is about 40 watts of electricity, which is about 5 LED light bulbs equivalent to 40 watt incandescent bulbs.  The house on the right is sparing us a lot of CO2 emissions.

If it makes you feel better, you can achieve the look of the house on the left with LEDs.  Controlling their color temperature and intensity is 100% possible in 2016.  For all we know, they’re one of the greenest houses on the block!

I personally think this display is hysterical.  My husband says it’s too clever so it must be photoshopped so I think we might have to do a drive-by one of these evenings.  : )

AMD – you can tell your husband it is NOT an altered image. Dawnelle sent a photo; soon as it got dark the next night, we went to look. This photo is the one we took. Hers was a little warmer color-wise but only came through at 450 pixels wide, about two-thirds of our display size, so we ran ours.

I told him WSB wouldn’t post a photoshopped picture.  I didn’t press too much harder than that because I didn’t want to lose my excuse to have him drive down there with me to see it.  : )

Thanks for the dose of wet-blanketism, Chemist.

Like the kids say, climate change is going to require a million tiny changes to reduce our energy consumption.

…’cause preachiness works so well in getting people to change their habits.
