West Seattle Crime Watch: Seen this stolen car?

SUNDAY NIGHT: Now that the Fauntleroy whale situation is mostly resolved, we’re getting back to other news, starting with a stolen car: Scott reports, “My 2000 Honda CRV was stolen from in front of my house on 49th SW between Hinds and Spokane Streets sometime after midnight last night. I notified the police and hopefully will get it back but really just perplexed that anyone would take my old (but beloved) Honda.”

ADDED MONDAY MORNING: A little more information from Scott: “Plate is ANJ0347. It’s a pretty unique silver CRV, slightly lifted with bigger than normal all terrain tires and a bike rack on back. Black carrier basket on roof rack.” If you see it, call 911 (and then let us know!).

My 1998 Honda CRV was stolen twice from in front of my house about a year apart and found both times not more than a mile away. Why? Because they are super easy to steal and gets the thieves from point A to B. Never any damage. 1st time  it was found abandoned at an apartment bldg on Delridge 11 days after it was stolen. Second time within 48 hrs near Prov. Mt St Vincent. Good chance of getting it back.

Thanks for that story. I’m trying to remain optimistic.

So sorry, Scott, that sucks. FYI, I put in a call today to Officer Flores (community police team for SW precinct) re: an uptick in property crime on our block, 47th Ave b/w Hinds and Spokane. Four broken-into cars in past 3 weeks plus the tire slashings from last week. It seems like our area has seen an increase in crime and no perps caught, so I phoned Flores to see what we can do about it. Maybe more streetlights? More police patrol in the area? Anyway, if you want to talk to him his phone number is 206-386-1088.  Good luck!

Sorry, comment time is over.
