West Seattle Crime Watch: Stolen bicycle to watch for

Maybe you’ll find this stolen bicycle dumped in the bushes somewhere – that’s what happens to so many stolen bikes. From Kathleen:

Unfortunately today my 14 year old brother rode his bike to the Delridge Library and left it unlocked when he went inside and it was gone when he came out. It’s a red and white Trek bicycle in an older youth size. Sadly it was the last gift our mom gave him before she passed away of cancer so it also has great sentimental value. I’ve reported it to the police but we don’t have a picture or serial number so it’s a long shot to get it back. Hopefully someone will see it somewhere.

Ugh, so sorry to hear about this happening to your family, Kathleen. I’ll be on the lookout for it.

Just interrupted a car prowler inside my vehicle on 48 Ave SW between Hudson & Dawson at 1140 pm this Sunday evening. Tall skinny white male 18-25 driving a dark grayish looking fastback type vehicle took off recklessly northbound on 48th after I yelled. Called SPD immediately.

Sorry to hear about this, Kathleen. I’ll keep an eye out for your brother’s bike as well. Thieves just don’t care about what an item may mean to someone – it takes a real lack of humanity to care that little about how their actions affect their victims.

Did you ever take the bike to a bike shop for repairs? They might have the serial number on file.

Lots of red and white Trek bikes on Craigslist right now… sorry for the loss.

You may leave me a message, and though that’s a tuff loss, I may be able to get you another. You’ll receive it, and it’ll be a blessing in your moms name. Will. 206-701-7005 message.

I would keeping checking Craigs List. Is it a road bike or mountain bike?

I saw a red and white Trek being examined by a scrapper on the side of Cloverdale road going East into South Park on Sunday…could be a different one but I remarked that it looked newer than would be scrapped.

Thanks all. It’s a mountain bike. Kyla, was it just discarded? Can’t imagine it’s still there. :-(

Sorry, comment time is over.
