Reality show ‘My City’s Just Not That Into Me’ films @ Click!

When the reality-TV show “My City’s Just Not That Into Me” premieres on FYI early next year, you can watch for a guest appearance by The Junction and Click! Design That Fits (WSB sponsor). A crew stopped by yesterday – on less than 24 hours’ notice – for a round of filming:

Click! co-proprietor John Smersh explained, “Their concept as I understand it is to find people who are thinking about moving to a new city and have them figure out where to live and how they’ll accessorize their new place. They liked our contemporary style and the overall look of the store as a ‘set’.” One crew member mentioned living in West Seattle and having shopped at Click! The show premieres in January – more background is in this HollywoodReporter.com story – and the episode featuring West Seattle is expected to be shown in February.

and…why do we need to tell the whole nation how good it is to live on this peninsula, away from downtown, but close enough to take advantage of it. We really need to attract more people?

I actually don’t know whether (or not) the featured people in this episode are supposedly moving to West Seattle or not. Some local shops like Click! actually draw from elsewhere too. Searching Twitter for mentions of the show, I found a guy from some other part of the city tweeting that the modern house he just built, NOT in West Seattle, is being featured – I’d have to guess the same episode, since it wouldn’t seem likely a national show would feature Seattle in more than one. People tell us all the time they found out about West Seattle by finding WSB so if you want to shut down the info pipeline, we might as well just go out of business! (Hoping not to do that any time soon, though.) – TR

I think this is wonderful; Click is a fabulous local small biz that just celebrated 10 yrs; they’ve made it through the very challenging recession (when many of our local small biz had to close); they offer very unique products; every time I go in their store (usually during artwalk, which they participate) there are new fun items to see; the owners are always there and welcoming; I’m excited for them that people outside of West Seattle have discovered Click, and congrats to them for the extra exposure; let’s please celebrate the successes of our neighbors (they live near me) and local small biz; shop local; this is awesome!!!

ps; I would be thrilled to get this kind of free exposure for my services

ps #2; I am a “reality show” HGTV junkie; especially love the rare times Seattle gets an episode on House Hunters; one time I even knew the people featured; that was in Belltown and other ‘hoods; the couple times WS has been featured, I didn’t know the people; this time would be WS and I know the wonderful owners of Click; can hardly wait to see this show

I ran into a couple from Ohio who was thinking of relocating to West Seattle. I told them to check out the blog. People will find their way here eventually. Unless we put up a force field and cloaking device. :-)

Turned my cable off a year and a half ago, The only thing I miss is the big bill for numerous channels of absolutely nothing.

Sorry, comment time is over.
