West Seattle businesses: Delridge Food Mart shuttered, maybe just temporarily

A texter tipped us this morning that Delridge Food Mart at Delridge/Brandon was closed and appeared empty of merchandise. We confirmed that with a visit to the store – closed, gated, shelves visibly empty, no explanatory notes. There’s one reason to think this might be temporary: A liquor-license application suggests the store is changing hands. The application was filed on August 26th, described as an “assumption” by new proprietors Trimurti LLC, headquartered in Renton.

You mean the Union 76 gas station? I don’t think anyone in the neighborhood knows it as the “Delridge Food Mart” – it’s basically the name on the mini-mart attached to the gas station. Plus it really didn’t have food to speak of aside from the usual mini-mart snacks and beverages. (I literally went “Food Mart? Delridge had a Food Mart?” And I live nearby!)
    .
It’s sure to be reopened with a new proprietor, with the same features. This may be the third or fourth time the gas station has changed hands.

The store’s canopy has a large sign that says DELRIDGE FOOD MART. That’s also how the state labeled it for the liquor license application. And how the county labels it in records. If it has another name by which people know it, sorry, I had no way to divine that. Somebody texted us Saturday morning to say it was empty and what did we know, so I went over to have a look.

The gentleman that ran the store was leasing it, and he decided not to renew his lease. Pity really, he always had milk and eggs and a few other last minute needs. The only way for stores to carry groceries on Delridge is for folks to actually shop there… Best beer selection on Delridge too- micro brews and such! He and his store will be missed.

That place was ghetto and helped maintain the perceived appearance that delridge is ghetto. Glad to see it possibly going down. Would love to see some new life in my neck of the woods…and less gas stations/minimarts.

Sorry, comment time is over.
