Followup: New Fauntleroy Shell gas station now open

We reported two days ago that the long-closed, then sold and rebranded, gas station at Fauntleroy/Alaska, now Fauntleroy Shell (4580 Fauntleroy Way SW), could open as soon as today if tech work was complete. We stopped by a little while ago to check – the store and mini-mart are open. The station had been closed more than a year, since shutting down in the middle of what had been a rebranding from 76 to Arco.

Isn’t there a shell station across the street? Is that one staying open?

Follow the link to our story from earlier this week. In short: Yes, but not forever – it’s part of the site of the planned megaproject at 4755 Fauntleroy SW.

Why have we accepted $4 gas prices? 2-3 years ago we would have been outraged. Now, we are just numbed to it. Big oil is killing our household economy’s, yet we just blow it off.

Who is responsible for cleaning up or demolishing the car wash? Alaska would look so much better without it!

…maybe cause 4 years ago, average gas prices were even higher than they are today?

Wow! That was fast!! It was still a mess on Sunday!! They should open the drive through car wash!! Environmentally friendly and there’s only one in the area!

By George, you’re right! These gross gas prices are terrible. Paying $4.55 for diesel gas, when it used to be the cheapest…I don’t understand. I walk and ride my bike as much as I can. REVOLTING, but nobody is really revolting…

Datamuse you are incorrect. On October 27th 2008 average national gas price for regular unleaded was $2.66 per gallon. Would love to pay those prices again, but don’t count on it.

Chris, I was looking at the average for Washington State, not nationally.
    .
Anecdotally, I’ve driven around much of the country and gas prices are higher here than anywhere else I go except California.

If everyone is OK with oil tankers in Puget Sound, then let’s build an oil refinery.

keep us unformed about the mega project. i guess Bellevue is doing a 7 year, city block project. which is good for my trade. but if that happened in west seattle (even at a fraction of that)? i would be set!!!

There is refinery in Blaine, the prices in Whatcom County are sometimes higher then in King

Sorry, comment time is over.
