Reminder: Wednesday trash/recycling to be picked up TODAY

(Photo added 12:21 pm – truck trouble in Delridge – see below)
7:45 AM: One more reminder before it’s too late, in case you missed the noontime announcement yesterday … since many Wednesday trash/recycling customers missed two pickups during the Waste Management strike, the company plans to have trucks out in those neighborhoods TODAY to catch up, so get yours out and keep it out till 6. (If you’re Monday or Tuesday, as of this writing, they’re planning to catch up on those regular days.)

12:21 PM UPDATE: The photo above is courtesy of Ronnie, who says the WM truck got into some kind of trouble in an alley east of Delridge, near Brandon. Ronnie says the truck’s “back popped open,” and that supervisors have arrived to check it out. No word on how or if this might affect pickups, but again, if you have Wednesday pickup, the company asks you to leave everything out at least until 6 tonight.

The whole dragging your garbage cans “in and out” repeatedly seems like an absurd waste of time to me. Just leave them out there until they are emptied. I swear my neighbor has made this hugh anoying production of dragging all of the cans out to the street and the back between the houses a dozen times. and always at like midnight to maximize the noise factor.

They came by at about 6:30 this morning. The driver pretty much coasted down the alley because no one had there cans out. Looking down the alley now and there’s cans and bags out. What a cluster!

Almost took my cans in till WSB reported that missed collections would be picked up today. Got the report from WSB even before the automated phone call from Waste Management. Recycle and yard waste was picked up this morning.

I woke up to the sound of the trucks, and of course I had taken my cans back in last night after 3 days. I watched the recycle truck go down the other side of the street, and pull down someone’s cable wire, which the driver nicely got out and rolled up for them. When I asked, he said he’d been down my side of the street already (%@$#) but would come back for my cans. He hasn’t yet…it would have been great to have had SOME kind of warning. I didn’t get an automated call, and I didn’t think to check here (but next time I will, thanks WSB!).

An hour left before the 6pm deadline and my yard waste is still full at the curb where it’s resided for days. – Weedless in Highland Park.

So, how do we go about getting CleanScapes? WM sucks. I’m tired of picking up garbage on my driveway and looking for my garbage can and lid after they throw it. All you have to do is put it back down. I can’t make it easier unless I actually hook it to the arm on the truck for them.

I saw a bunch of the trucks parked in their yard down by the transfer station a few hours ago.

Two comments above I said WM hadn’t come as of 5pm and at 5:30, a strapping driver picked up all my yard wasteon 5th in Highland Park. I gave him a cheer and he grinned and raised his hands to the sky in an Olympian victory salute. Good man.

I had to leave at 5 yesterday, so I resignedly put my cans back…but when I got home, someone had dragged my yard waste out to the curb and it was empty! I wonder if it was the pickup guy, or a neighbor. In either case, I’m grateful (and ready to re-fill it with more yard waste).

We just got yard waste picked up yesterday. Recycling is overflowing in HP.

Sorry, comment time is over.
