West Seattle Bridge alerts: Spokane St. Viaduct closures

The next round of Spokane Street Viaduct Widening Project-related closures has just arrived in e-mail from SDOT, including the weekend westbound closure they’ve already announced, plus other closures/changes AND a projected reopening date for the 1st Avenue South offramp from the eastbound SSV – read on!

The westbound lanes of the Spokane Street Viaduct between I-5 and SR 99 will be closed this weekend from 6 p.m. Saturday, June 9 until 5 a.m. Monday, June 11. The SR 99 southbound off-ramp to West Seattle will remain open, providing an opportunity to avoid the closure. The attached maps provide additional detour opportunities.

    yikes !
not looking forward to that spokane street viaduct closure this weekend. at least it is not the same weekend as a viaduct closure.
i keep thinking that WSDOT / SDOT will do that to us at some point, but I hope not.

Your northbound/ southbound links are mixed up.

    From the south = northbound
    From the north = southbound

SDOT will not allow the westbound direction of the Spokane Street Viaduct to be closed at the same time southbound Alaskan Way Viaduct is closed. Rest assured!

My father was headed over here, but just reported to me that the westbound portion of the bridge is closed. And Spokane St. is looking bad.

Enough of this. I moved to Alki about 5 years ago – this bridge is my lifeline to work. It’s also my aunt’s lifeline to work (she moved to Alki about 10 years ago).

We’re done. Her condo is on the market, mine’s going up in the Fall. DOT and this ceaseless construction have wreaked irrepairable havoc on our lives. The officials handling that have handled this are impotent half-wits.

LOVED the community, second to none. That bridge is a killer + the spokane st mess. I wish the West Seattle community all the best, and I hope they wrap this stuff up soon!

The westbound portion of the bridge is NOT closed until Saturday at 6 pm. We were just on a two-hour site tour with the construction team. The westbound Spokane St. Viaduct, I-5 to 99, will be closed this weekend 6 pm Saturday till pre-commute Monday – if it reopens sooner, we’ll update – TR
