West Seattle weekend scene: Mother’s Day hot spot

Many a Sunday, you’ll find a line at Bakery Nouveau in The Junction. This morning, Edgar Riebe from Captive Eye Media caught this photo from the back of what he says was a 30-minute line to get in the door! And worth it, Edgar added. Here’s hoping this is a successful Mother’s Day for all local eateries – and if you’re just venturing out for late lunch/brunch, while we can’t guarantee they have room, La Romanza Bistro Italiano in The Junction (WSB sponsor) offers jazz brunch till 4 pm. The sponsor team also was joined this week by vegetarian Chaco Canyon Organic Café in The Triangle, brunch till 3 pm on Sundays. And while driving north of Morgan Junction the other day, we noticed a NOW SERVING BRUNCH banner outside Pan Africa Grill at Juneau/California.

went to Fiddlehead Fine Foods & Café – not crowded, awesome service, clean and the food was great!

I wish bakery Nouveau would expand to a larger building. Not enough seats and hardly much room to walk in and out.The food is amazing and will always thrive here in West Seattle for years to come. Just need more room.

Waiting 30 minutes for a croissant and then no place to sit? No thanks.

I went to Great Harvest and had a delicious cinnamon roll.

Just curious, what do people normally get from Bakery Nouveau? Is it a specific item that people are waiting in line for or just baked goods in general?

that was funny- we drove up probably about the time the photo was taken. I had foolishly thought that most people would go out for a sit-down brunch and not to the bakery. we were so surprised so we turned around and went to fiddlehead. breakfast was amazing (even better than the first time we went to fiddlehead). we’ll have to go back to nouveau another day.

cwit- Their claim to fame (IMO) is the twice-baked almond crossoints, which also come in almond/chocolate. They are heavenly.

Sorry, comment time is over.
