West Seattle traffic alerts: Latest list of upcoming closures

Three notes of interest in the weekly list of closures/changes, just out: First – next Friday night, March 22nd, southbound Highway 99 is scheduled to close overnight between Denny Way and S. Spokane St. … We first told you last week about the Alaskan Way Viaduct closure planned for early March 24th through early March 26th, for the semi-annual inspection; that’s still on the list. … From March 26th through April 6th, the 1st Avenue South offramp from the eastbound West Seattle Bridge is scheduled to be closed around the clock for surface paving. The 4th Avenue “loop” offramp will stay open. … More details of all this can be found here.

Also a bit north of W.S. but may affect your route planning: St. Pats run closes 99 near and north of Seattle Center Saturday morning.

Thanks, Look, we are publishing the full citywide list of weekend traffic-affecting events (which came in separately) in a bit. Though that’s not construction-related, it might not have been a bad idea for the traffic powers-that-be to have included it on this list! – TR

Hmmm. And why do I want to continue to stay in WS?

I drove around at 11pm last night (after speaking at an event on Bainbridge, not out partying) and could not find a way to get home to West Seattle.

A train was completely stopped on the tracks so I drove down 1st and came the south way to Spokane only to find it was closed. Then got stuck because of the train again and finally took the 1st ave bridge.

There were no signs announcing the Spokane closure, just the usual detour signs pointing me from first to Spokane.

Can we just get some signage, please?!

Sorry, comment time is over.
