Just in case you wondered: Highland Park fire call

The big fire response to the 8100 block of 15th SW this past half-hour was for a problem that turned out NOT to be a fire – we went to the scene just to verify, and fire crews told us it was a smoldering electrical wire. They’re canceling the rest of the units now.

Many thanks for the update. I have to say I am awed and amazed each time I check out the West Seattle Blog –you are so on top of it, so timely and accurate, so professional, no hype. I feel safer and smarter (two very good things!!) because of the WSB!!!

Thanks, Neighbor. When incidents like this fizzle quickly, we tend to vacillate about whether to mention them on the site, especially if nobody texted or e-mailed or called about them at the time – but invariably, if we don’t, then hours later somebody e-mails to say “What was all that about?” so I figure, probably no harm in putting up a quick mention like this. Thank you for the kind words – Tracy (and Patrick, who is usually the one who makes the drive to check out the fire/police/whatever response)

Any idea what the two firetrucks, ambulance and police cruiser were doing around 6pm on 47th near Edmunds?

We checked that out too – short answer: Don’t know. Long answer: We happened to be in the vicinity when the call was dispatched. It was a med-7 call, which generally means serious illness or injury. Scanner gave us no clue, and neighbors didn’t know; crews can’t talk while in the middle of something like that … as far as we could tell, it didn’t appear to be a major incident, so all we can do is doublecheck that perception later.
