From reports on cases handled recently by Southwest Precinct officers – two rounds of The WSBeat, compiled over the past few weeks:

*Early Tuesday of last week, a 41-year-old man was walking on 16th SW near SW Elmgrove when he was confronted by a man being pushed in a wheelchair, who yelled out some “territorial” type of threats. Suddenly, the man in the wheelchair jumped up, punched the victim in the face and knocked him backward to the ground. The victim had to be taken to Harborview for treatment of multiple golf ball-sized contusions and lacerations to his head. The attacker — described as an Asian/Pacific Islander male, aged 22-29, with an athletic build and black hair in a ponytail — remains at large.

14 more summaries ahead:

*Early last Sunday, some family members and friends went to a home in the 7500 block of 21st SW in order to pick up a child whose mother had passed out there. Someone at the home had warned the child’s father, ‘If you come and get your kid I’ll f#$* you up.’ When the family got there, the people in the house began screaming and pushed their way outside. An older man began punching the dad and then pulled out a knife with a 6” blade and hit the father with the butt of the knife. Others were hit in the back with a golf club. One of the family went into the house and grabbed the child, but someone from the home followed and fired two shots toward the people leaving. The 18-year-old shooter was ID’d and booked into King County Jail for investigation of assault and firearms violations. The investigation is ongoing; it’s not clear who got custody of the child.

*In North Admiral early Saturday, a 37-year-old man went out of control, repeatedly kicking his mother’s elderly cocker spaniel, shoving mom around, and breaking her cell phone as she called 911. At one point he said over and over, “It’s time for us to die. I love you, mom.” He was booked into King County Jail for investigation of DV assault, property damage, interfering with the reporting of domestic violence, and animal cruelty.

*Last Thursday morning around 4, an officer on routine patrol discovered a man down in an Alaska Junction parking garage. Although unresponsive, the victim’s body was still warm, so officers called for medics who tried, unsuccessfully, to revive the man. There was a pool of blood nearby, and the man’s body showed signs of abrasions and bruising. A little later that morning, an officers responded to a missing person’s call, and the victim matched the description. Friends and relatives noted that the victim had showed recent signs of paranoia and depression and had turned his home and belongings upside down searching for the “bugs and cameras” he was sure had been planted. Based on that and other information, it was decided that this was not a case of foul play.

The preceding round of WSBeat items:
=======
*A 24-year-old Ballard/Crown Hill resident was booked into King County Jail for investigation of reckless driving. Officers paced him for 15 blocks on 35th SW and pulled him over at SW Thistle. He had been traveling in excess of 80 mph.

*A Kent man wanted in connection with a number of robberies is a suspect in a Westwood Village incident. Two women were approaching their vehicle in the east parking lot when a stranger’s car blocked in their car from the rear. The suspect exited his vehicle, grabbed one of the women’s purses and pulled it from her arm. He sped away in his car, a black Honda Civic Hatchback. The suspect is a 26-year-old white male with brown hair in a buzz cut. He remains at large.

*A Jane Doe who appeared to be in her mid-40s was booked into King County Jail after shoplifting and consuming $9 worth of seafood from an Alaska Junction grocery. The woman refused to speak or to answer any questions posed by officers or store managers.

*An 18-year-old West Seattle resident was booked into King County Jail after shoplifting a bottle of, um, “male enhancement pills” and then fighting with security officers at an Admiral store. He was booked into King County Jail.

*In the 7300 block of 31st SW, a burglar did his or her best with the homeowner’s power saw, but just couldn’t break into a safe found at the residence.

*Way back during “Viadoom,” the stress might have been too much for one man: Near Spokane St. and West Marginal Way, a fellow driver slowly merged in front of him, with her blinker on. He “blew past her,” flipped her off and slammed on the brakes. He got out of his car, ran back to hers, swearing all the way, then slammed her side rear mirror backward, leaned into the open window, and spat in her face. The suspect vehicle is registered to a Beach Drive-area address.

*Three people between 32nd and 35th and SW Morgan were victims of armed robbery by a man who stole their cell phones and wallets. The suspect was an 18-19-year-old black male, 6’2” tall with a slim build. He wore glasses, a dark jacket, dark pants, and a gray beanie. In both incidents he pulled up his shirt to display what looked like the handle of a black handgun tucked in his waistband. In the second incident, he punched one of the victims in the throat. Also in the second incident, he was accompanied by a mixed-race male, 18-19, who wore black clothing, a black beanie, and who had gold teeth.

*A man arrested in a Westwood domestic violence incident (for investigation of unlawful imprisonment and obstruction) was also wanted on a $10,000 felony dangerous drugs warrant from the Seattle Police Department.

*Two men broke kicked in the front door of a home in the 1500 block of SW Brandon, but were surprised when resident came out of the shower to investigate the suspicious “bang.” The suspects were black males in their twenties, about 6′ tall with a thin build. They wore red baseball caps and white tee shirts.

*A resident parked his car (legally) in the 9400 block of 25th SW on Saturday afternoon. A man came out of a house and yelled, “Move your vehicle and don’t park in front of my house anymore.” He also allegedly punched the father of the driver who came to investigate the commotion. (The puncher claims he was slapped first.) Then two women, one with each family, got involved and ended up with scratches. The parties were separated, given business cards, and were told that a police report would be filed.

*Officers responded to a report of a disturbance on 26th SW early Sunday, October 30th. They found the upset (and intoxicated) male victim on the front porch. When asked if he’d been assaulted, he hesitated and said, “I guess so,” but was reluctant to cooperate further — possibly because his attacker turned out to be a female dressed as Little Red Riding Hood.
