Worth mention: The Seattle Municipal Code (SMC 11.31.115) dictates an automatic double fine for traffic infractions in a school zone. No exceptions.

Ummmm. How about some Madison patrols given recent events????

It would be nice if the officers giving these tickets would follow the rules too. On at least two occasions, while walking my son to school, police cars have blown by us waiting at a marked crosswalk.

@blkt, did you ever stop to think they might be going to a 911 call?

all i can say is that i got caught in one of the photo van enforcements during the first days of school …

i was going south on Fauntleroy and never saw the flashing lights.

    i paid the ticket…
it was a good reminder to slow down in school zones

Why isn’t the school zone by OLG on 35th patrolled? Every time I’ve gone through that zone when the lights are flashing there are MANY people going faster than 20 mph. Last week I had someone practically attached to my bumper and looking very impatient and annoyed at the speed (I could see her clearly in my rear view mirror.. and she couldn’t go around because the person next to me was also following the speed limit). The first chance she had she jetted past me. It would be a very productive day for SPD if they checked out that area.

J – there were Our Lady of Guadalupe enforcement reports on SPD Blotter in the previous week, as part of other roundups – TR
