High-school football: Victories for WSHS, Seattle Lutheran

Today’s two high-school football games brought victories for both local teams: Tonight at West Seattle Stadium, WSHS beat Ingraham 30-13 in its homecoming game. And this afternoon, Seattle Lutheran won at Orcas Island, 28-27. We’ll add WSHS homecoming highlights in a bit. (P.S. Nichole sent words, next week’s WSHS-Sealth faceoff is up for Channel 7 Game of the Week – vote here.)

ADDED: Summary from the WSHS game, ahead:

From WSB co-publisher Patrick Sand:

West Seattle High managed to put up two touchdowns followed by recovery of two onside kicks in the second half, and that’s part of what led them to a 30-13 homecoming win over the Ingraham Rams at West Seattle Stadium on Saturday night. In the third quarter Ingraham pulled within three points of the Wildcats, but West Seattle’s offense held the ball for most of the third and fourth quarters which left Ingraham little time to work with. For most of the night West Seattle had held the ball to eat up large portions of time. Their first score of the night came after they moved 66 yards on 10 plays which led to senior George Edwards catching a pass with 4:45 left in the first. On the night, West Seattle’s Nikko Pablo Emm rushed for more than 200 yards, while quarterback Isaac Johnson (#10, photo above) and wide recover Brennan Newquist both had touchdowns. Next week, it’s the Huling Cup game – WSHS vs. Chief Sealth.
