12:02 AM: We’re receiving multiple reports of a very loud explosion-type sound in the Junction vicinity. “With car alarms,” according to @macjustice via Twitter. Fire crews are going were briefly sent to California/Edmunds to investigate – but can’t find anything and are being canceled. Police were checking too.

12:29 AM: Via the WSB Facebook page, one area resident reports being told by police that whatever exploded, was set off in a dumpster by the Chase drive-through. There also are reports of a few more booms a few minutes ago, possibly in the Jefferson Square Safeway vicinity, per FB discussion.

1:27 AM NOTE: Things seem to have quieted now – no further news on this.

We were walking to terrible beauty when we saw the sky light up to the north east and heard an explosion that set off car alarms.

I also live on the 4800 block of California Ave. It sounded like dynamite and shook the windows at our apartment building. That was insane. A bunch of people in my apartment complex saw smoke coming from the junction.

Just heard another explosion or two in the Junction area. There was also a police car on 41st just south of Alaska, but they left before the second set of “booms”.
    .
Hopefully just some leftover fireworks from the 4th?

There were definitely reports of smoke but it dissipated even before the fire dept. got there.

the dumpster explosion sounded like it was first. The second set sounded like a series of M80’s. It’s very loud out there tonight!

I was down there and never noticed if the police looked in dumpsters. Just figured it was kids and fireworks. It rattled my windows about a half block away.

There are also cars squealing around and peeling out around corners. Now there is a car alarm going off and I can clearly hear a roving band of fiddlers off in the distance. Crazy night in the Junction.

Heard two similar explosions last night in North Delridge last night around 11 PM. These explosion sounds were louder that a typical firework, but figured they we just kids playing with firework. I look at Seattle 911 Incident Reponses map this morning and some North Delridge residences made police report about these events. Wonder if they were related?

The official word from Lt. Williams in the early am hours is that police didn’t find anything/anyone. So we may never know …

Wonder if this is connected to the car/building eggings recently?

There were loud explosions beginning at 10:30 p.m. last night in the Puget Ridge area. First few were in the 5200 block of 18th SW – a few minutes later they were heard in the 1800 block of SW Dawson and then at 21st SW and SW Dawson. Police were called by more than one resident in the area and we were notified that an officer was already in our area.
