Zippy’s Giant Burgers closed after ‘crazy, crazy’ week

Thanks to a text, we’ve found out Zippy’s Giant Burgers is closed today. According to the recording that answers the Zippy’s phone, it’s because they’re out of food after selling a “crazy, crazy amount of burgers” their first five days in the new White Center location, but they expect to reopen tomorrow. ADDED 2:20 PM: It’s been pointed out to us (via Krista on Facebook) that, also in WC, Proletariat Pizza is now open Sundays, as of today.

The employees need a break anyway. We were there Friday around 5pm. It was jam packed. He asked: to go or eat here. To go I said jokingly, there is no place here to eat.

I missed them so much when I went in on Friday I had to order two burgers to make up for lost time.

Sorry to hear but at least they’re doing well. C’mon Blaine, get some more meat man! :)

They probably only ordered a minimal amount of food as expected when they first opened so they wouldn’t lose money or waste food.

Since opening Tuesday morning, Zippy’s has broken sales records, every day exceeding the day before. The latest update I received from Ms. Zippy’s, Rahel, was over 400 orders/customers on Friday.

amazing !!! I’m so glad this location is successful, or so it seems. I’m jealous…haven’t been to the new place yet !

Tried to go today but, as noted above, they were closed. Ended up at La Fondita taco truck for the first time – delicious torta’s and horchata!

not to take anything away form zippy, I heard there is a good place near costco I have tried neither

I traveled to West Seattle a few night ago to try the place. With 20 or so people in line I decided to try a different place. Went to the BBQ place which was pretty good and homey. So Zippy’s can even help other restaurants.

Again I say white center has some of the best kept secrets! This is a true success story!

    ScottA-

That BBQ place is Uncle Mike’s, across the street from Full Tilt Ice Cream, if you had not noticed! Owners Mike and Elizabeth are two MORE of the welcoming White Center food destinations.

Uncle Mike’s does the barbeque thing with vegetarian offerings as well. Nice when
carnivores and vegetarians can eat together ;).

The La Fondita truck has been, at some point in the recent past, rated as one of the top Mexican food trucks in the city…

    Deanie-
I actually did stop by Full Tilt too since it was so handy right there!

  • No11Fan June 5, 2011 (9:58 pm)

@HelperMonkey: who knows how long that will take? :) Remember how long it took at the original location? Weeks and weeks IIRC. Now they have enhanced seating, parking, and capacity. It could be even longer this time… so do what I do when I can, and call in an order. That way at least all you have to do is wait in the register line to pay it off…

I can hardly wait until they can start up the fresh-cut fries, if they’re going to. Extra-crisp fresh cut fries with a No.11 would be a gastro-dream come true…

That explains why they were closed on Sunday

@ Paul – Burger Madness? I’ve gotten food from there, but we didn’t dine in, so by the time we got home it was on the lukewarm side and I have a feeling that played a part in it not being as great as it could’ve been. But was good *enough* that I’m going to give them another try when we have the chance to stay and eat.

Haven’t made it to the new Zippy’s location yet, and actually only ever had food from the old location once, since the other 5 times we tried to go they were either out of a key ingredient or closed. But because, as always, I’m all about supporting our local businesses and people rave about this place all the time, I shall keep trying!

I went to Burger Madness and dined in when Zipp’s was closed. It was just ok. You can tell they don’t put the care into the burger’s like Zippy’s does. Worth trying but I wouldn’t go out of my way to go back.

Sorry, comment time is over.
