West Seattle business birthdays: Bin 41, Atomic Boys, Abbondanza

Three business-anniversary celebrations of note:

BIN 41 WINE SHOP: Today is the one-year anniversary of the “soft opening” for Bin 41 wine shop in The Junction. We stopped in to photograph owners T. Frick McNamara and Jon McNamara; they’re planning a big celebration for April 1st, but today has sentimental value. They’re also continuing with Friday night tastings – 5:30-7 pm this Friday, it’s winemakers from the Willamette Valley.

MAX AND QUINN’S ATOMIC BOYS SHOP-O-RAMA: The Admiral District toys-memorabilia-and-other-quirky-stuff shop at 4311 SW Admiral Way is celebrating three years in business. They’ve announced a party for this Saturday, 10 am-6 pm, “food, fun, and games.”

And there’s a big anniversary for a little Morgan Junction restaurant:

ABBONDANZA TURNS TEN: To thank customers who have kept them in business for a decade, through ups and downs, even as more eateries moved into the area, Abbondanza is now open for lunch, with a special “Presto, Presto” offering 11 am-2 pm Mondays-Fridays, two for one through April 15th (back to regular pricing after that) – pan pizza and soup or salad. They also are serving brunch, 9 am-2 pm, $11.95 fixed price, “with an Italian flair,” we’re told – that includes options such as eggs Florentine, an Italian frittata, Croccante Signore (like a Croque Monsieur), or Spaghetti Pie. Abbondanza is at 6503 California SW, just south of the intersection with Fauntleroy.

Abbondanza is terrific! Glad to know that they are now offering lunch. I used to go there Friday evenings when there was a “Signing Social Time”– a great way to meet others who use sign language. Anyone know if they still have that?

Abbondanza is my favorite pizza in W. Seattle and the service is great. Congrats to them! I’m really intrigued by the brunch.

The food and service is simply amazing at Abbondanza, or as I like to refer to it as “Shiela”. If it wasn’t for Shiela making everyone feel like a family member and for Leo cooking the amazing food I wouldn’t be a customer.

I like Atomic Boys! “INFINITY AND BEYOND!”

  • DW March 15, 2011 (10:07 pm)

They cannot be mad if other people have moved in. They just need to raise their game.

  • add March 15, 2011 (10:36 pm)

@DW – what are you even talking about? Who is mad? Anyway, we love Abbondanza and have been going there since it opened. Definitely the closest to east coast pizza we’ve found in Seattle. Can’t believe it’s been ten years!

  • Kent March 16, 2011 (11:11 am)

Have been big fans of Abbondanza since the beginning. Congrats!! Love your pizza.

  • anon March 16, 2011 (11:20 am)

We love Abbondanza also, their prosciutto and caper pizza is our favorite.

  • OP March 16, 2011 (12:29 pm)

Congrats to the fantastic owners of Abbobdanza! I agree with “add”; they’re the closest and next-best thing to east-coast pizza. And their pastas rock, too!

  • lenguamor March 16, 2011 (1:22 pm)

Abbondanza ROCKS. Always great pasta dishes, tasty pizzas with fresh, quality ingredients and perfect crusts, and friendly service. May they be around another 10 years!

  • cakeitseasy March 16, 2011 (6:55 pm)

Another fan of Abbondanza and their “east coast style” pie and ambiance. It’s a cozy neighborhood joint with some of the best pizza in Seattle and a nice, professional staff. Considering the abundance of bad pizza places in Seattle, I’m grateful to have Abbondanza in my ‘hood. Their pasta dishes and salads are good too, as are the portions and prices. I always feel so comfortable there. Happy Anniversary Abbondanza! Salute!

P.S. I suspect “samson” wouldn’t know a good pizza pie if it hit him in the eye…or mouth.

Oh, but, um, Abbondanza? “spaghetti pie”? What th’freak?! Why?! That’s just…..8-P
