Out of the WSB inbox, news that the West Seattle Water Taxi will “offer an expanded sailing schedule” starting Monday – read on for more details:
Beginning February 28, King County’s West Seattle Water Taxi will offer an expanded sailing schedule that will give riders more travel options across Elliott Bay.
Given the advanced capabilities of the vessel Rachel Marie, the King County Marine Division has concluded that the current 40-minute round-trip sailing schedule can be adjusted to offer 30-minute service between Seacrest Dock and downtown Seattle’s Pier 50. As a result, the West Seattle Water Taxi will offer scheduled departures on the quarter-hour from Seacrest Park with an average Elliott Bay crossing time of eight minutes. This schedule reflects one additional daily round-trip in the morning and two round-trips in the afternoon.
“This enhanced sailing schedule will continue to offer a great option for passengers looking to avoid bumper-to-bumper traffic during their daily commute,” said Ferry District Chair and King County Councilmember Larry Gossett. “And as the Alaskan Way Viaduct construction progresses along the waterfront, the water taxi will become an even more valuable commute alternative for residents who want to avoid construction tie-ups.”
