1:06 PM: From Bellevue College: Chief Sealth International High School‘s boys-basketball team lost to O’Dea, 67-51. Next game: Auburn on Friday (part of the state tournament). More details on today’s game later.

ADDED: As promised, details, and two video clips, after the jump:

From WSB co-publisher Patrick Sand, who covered the game at Bellevue College:

The Chief Sealth Seahawks put up a couple of decent scoring runs late in the game, but for the first three quarters they strugged with ball control, foul trouble, and the loss of a key player for half the game. The game was never close for O’Dea, who took the win 67-51. Sealth’s problems started in the first quarter. Chief among them was losing senior Keon Lewis, who went down after this play.

Coach Colin Slingsby said that Lewis took an elbow right about his eye. He was immediately checked out by the trainer and stayed out the balance of the first half as a precaution set down by the officials. He returned at the start of the second half, but in that half Sealth lost Pepe Hernandez and Korwin Flowers to foul trouble. Hernandez wound up scoring only three points. D’Nique Harris-Welch led Sealth with 15 points. Just prior to leaving the game, Pepe Hernandez blocks this shot during one of his team’s scoring runs.

Sealth winds up with the number four spot in the 3A District 3 seeding round. They’ll play at Auburn High School next Friday when the state tournament begins. Their opponent is still being determined while the seeding rounds continue.
