West Seattle showcased on HGTV’s ‘House Hunters’ tonight

Thanks to Evan Wilson, who shared that photo after we asked for one when he e-mailed to say tonight’s episode of HGTV’s “House Hunters” will feature him and wife Becky: “Our house is here in West Seattle (in the Gatewood neighborhood). All the homes we toured were in WS and we did some filming at Lincoln Park and Bird on a Wire Espresso as well.” Evan also notes they worked with West Seattle-based realtor Todd Williamson. Tonight’s episode is at 10 pm.

Awesome. Todd was MY realtor when I was searching in WS way back in 2008. Looking forward to watching the show! Thanks WSB for the heads up.

oh this is so exciting; I’m totally addicted to this show; seen a couple about Seattle, but this is first for West Seattle; thanks so much for alert

This is the most popular show on HGTV (surprising since we all claim to hate actual househunting). Thanks for letting us know.

I love the show too. I was so dismayed to find out from my realtor friend who was featured on the show that the whole premise is a lie. The “buyers” have already purchased one of the 3 homes they “consider” buying on the show. The realtor finds 2 other comparable houses to “show” them for the show’s filming. In the episode my friend was on, the show moved model furniture into the clients’ home, so their “real” house wasn’t even real. Oh, well, that’s Hollywood I guess.

oh that was so much fun to watch; now I’m dying to see your house in person; welcome to West Seattle

My husband Rich and I were on House Hunters too, back in 2006. Awesome experience! Our house is also in the Gatewood neighborhood (as were the other two houses we looked at). Look out for our show in reruns, it’s called “Need More Space.”

Forgot to mention, we also worked with WS-based realtors, Bruce and Summer Jones.

Dang I missed it. Any ideas when there will be a rerun?

  • WSM November 5, 2010 (6:33 am)

Maybe I missed it when I watched last night, but what YEAR did this ‘house hunt’ take place? Just wondering how current those prices were?

Sometimes I reflect on how a family of 4 or more lived in my house when it was built (in the 50’s) – are we all living with more than we need, or did they not have enough “stuff”? Since everyone says 1100 sq ft is “too small”

It was really funny to watch this..we looked at two of the three houses they did (including the one they ended up buying) during our home search this spring. We ended up buying just two blocks away from them…kinda surreal to watch knowing they were our competition ;) Gatewood is a great neighborhood!!!

I watched it – it’s amazing how much house prices differ from one part of the country to another. Sometimes you just have to live further out if you want more space and newer homes, but then you miss the vibrancy and history of city living.

Bronto, was your episode the one close by that gothic looking church in seaview?

  • Diane November 5, 2010 (12:20 pm)

re prices, places, timing; the price differences all over the US are truly amazing, and yeh, always have to check year of show for real comparison; also very informative to see prices on House Hunters International; some way lower than you might think; most shocking high prices for rentals were in Italy; I think it was Rome that basic apts run for $5,000/mo US

We watched the show last night and laughed all the way through. My boyfriend is a Dallas transplant too, and could totally relate to their sticker shock. When he first moved in with me, he wasn’t sure why I’d bought a house with such an outdated kitchen and a huge oil furnace in the middle of the “finished” basement. Welcome to Seattle!

  • Brontosaurus November 5, 2010 (11:01 pm)

@George Not sure exactly where “Seaview” is but yes one of our houses was by an old church on Juneau and 42nd. Our episode was shot in 2004 and 2005, aired in 2006. I’m sorry I missed the new episode, hoping they’ll rerun it soon!

    • WSB November 6, 2010 (4:42 am)

That’s Seaview. West of California, north of Morgan Junction.

This episode took place recently . . around March of this year. I know because my husband and I also put an offer on the same house. I think we were one of the 4 offers they were up against. It really is a beautiful house. We were so bummed not to get it. It was weird seeing who we lost out to. We ended up with a cute little house in Seaview so it’s all good :) We love West Seattle

Sorry, comment time is over.
