Water woes reported in Admiral neighborhood

Melissa e-mailed to say that she and neighbors in the 1700 block of Walnut (map) are noticing “brown water” this morning. No word so far from Seattle Public Utilities of any particular problems – SPU has a webpage (see it here) suggesting steps to take if you notice a problem like that at your home/office.

my experience with brown water, SPU never gives notice when working on single water line in a neighborhood; this happened often when I lived down on 48th and Hudson; yes, it shakes up the muck that apparently is always there (gross reality) and SPU told me to NOT run water for an hour, so it can settle again; I always thought opposite, needing to run water to get brown out; I’m at 37th & Hinds in Admiral, my water seems ok, so most likely very local work on water pipeline at 1700 Walnut

It might have something to do with the fireman I’ve been seeing the last couple of days checking the hydrants in the area. It’s likely they kicked up some sediment in the water lines.

The water is running clear at our place now.

I passed the SPU trucks around 9:30, after running brown water at my house. They said they were working on the pressure release valve at Arch and Walnut. Water’s clear thisafternoon. It’d be nice to have notice; I wasn’t happy about drinking it before noticing the color! Brita only now!

We live around 48th and Graham and our water has been brown all day. Even after we ran the water through the Brita, the water was still brown.

Sorry, comment time is over.
