West Seattle biznotes: Phone store open; new dining patio; more

A few more West Seattle business notes this afternoon: 2 months after we reported Cellular World was moving into the former Tully’s spot at California/Fauntleroy, they’re now open. Also open: A brand-new outdoor patio – which goes beyond “a few tables and chairs” – at Alki Crab and Fish at Seacrest Pier:

Thanks to the tipsters who told us about that one, including Alki Crab and Fish’s neighbor Greg Whittaker from Alki Kayak Tours and Mountain to Sound Outfitters. (You can check it out if you’re going to Tuesday night Stand-Up Paddleboarding tomorrow – here’s our recent story on that.)

Meantime, two notes about and from West Seattle-headquartered Prudential Northwest Realty: West Seattleite Irene Stewart, director of the Mayor’s Office for Senior Citizens, tells us that Mike Gain and Don Bereiter from PNW Realty have stepped up to underwrite coffee and baked goods for Senior Coffee Hours – no longer in the city’s budget. Read the city’s announcement here. Plus, Prudential Northwest is celebrating their ranking as one of the Top 50 Prudential companies – the Prudential “Gilbraltar Circle.” Read their news release here.

Still disappointed about the phone store taking over the old Tully’s spot. It could have been something so much more community related.

In other new biz news, any word on the status of Locol? Last I read it was hoping to open in July (after hoping to open in April). Their online contact info seems busted, so I was hoping you might have some lead,,,

I’ve sent a note. In June they posted on FB “a few months” – but that page hasn’t had an update in four weeks. Definitely a big challenge to open a place, particularly if you’re converting it from a different business use – I think Spring Hill holds the record in the three years or so we’ve been doing this intensively – a year and a half from first word (when the liquor-license flyer went up) to opening night.

The new deck is wonderful…It is a must see great design and orange is so happy….Take your out of town guests for the best view of the Seattle. For just the cost of a tap beer…We ride our bikes down for a pop, then have a rest, then off to the game on the water taxi. How fun it is to live in West Seattle my whole life….

If you don’t like a type of business moving in, why didn’t you put something there instead of relying on someone else to please your appetite? Hypocritical.

The Alki Fish outdoor seating area on that side is Adults Only, right? I seem to recall seeing a sign the last time we were there.

Yes all the round tables are for everyone in front of the lounge area. “Yes for adults only as state law requires in Wa.is the bar lounge area. Still a great view front all seats thou.

yes, that is a great place to sit! I think the last time we did sit out there was with relatives 3 summers ago. I’ve always seen the sign that the patio was for ‘beer drinkers only’ and for some reason thought that I had to get a beer with my fish and chips to sit out there, lol. but, I didn’t realize it wasn’t just an extension of general seating. I guess I’ll have to stay inside with my beer and my child :)

It is a great place to sit until you put food on your table, then you need a canopy to keep the seagulls away from your food and the poo from landing in you hair and on your plate. They turn into dive bombing gulls.

I think this was a great idea to do an outdoor lounge. They are hoping to have their liquor liscense within a week. There is no better view and now to be able to enjoy a cocktail out there will be amazing. The furniture is great looking. Good job Eric with the nice addition.

re: the Cellular World store. I don’t believe it’s really open quite yet.
Went to the Morgan Junction store to get a new phone today. Posted hours on Sunday are open at 11AM … no one home. Went shopping at Thriftway, checked again… still no one home. Called Cellular World’s listed phone number. No voice mail option, couldn’t leave a message. Drove to Junction Store. It’s closed, sign on door says go to new store at Morgan Junction. Drove back down California passing that store, again… still not open. Ended up driving down to Tukwila and got nice new phone for hubby.

Sorry, comment time is over.
