Update: Toppled truck by the West Seattle Bridge

Thanks to Shane Marr for that photo of a toppled truck in the Delridge/Spokane/West Marginal SW area (also mentioned by @DAlbrightVideo via Twitter, and James via Facebook.). We’re checking on injuries/circumstances. Here’s another angle from WestSide Baby‘s Nancy Woodland:

12:46 PM: Helen Fitzpatrick of the Seattle Fire Department says nobody was hurt. The truck will have to be righted before it’s towed, so avoid that area of West Marginal TFN (map).

Big surprize this happened, I work in this area and travel this road almost everyday and the majority of the drivers heading to and from the Port drive like maniacs. They have huge loads and drive way too fast.
Hope the guy is ok though, had a two hour lunch thanks to the detour!

These truckers by the port (hard working tho they may be), some tend to drive unsafely. I have seen these guys touch nary a brake when going down that ‘lower bridge’ toward this turn and smoke the tires as they drive-slide around that turn.

And calling the ‘How’s My Driving, call 1-800-3@tsh1t’ line is as useful as a bag of hair.

Glad there was no other car mooshed under that thing and hope that the driver (with new found respect for velocity combined with gravity) was OK.

Yikes! Anyone else see a similar accident along E Marginal way about two weeks ago? It was just on the S side of the Coastie station. Toppled container-carrying truck, just like this.
Should be lovely when all of the traffic gets diverted to low bridge when 1st ave onramp closes…
    Cyclists be extra cautious!

i wonder how often this happens with container trucks. i imagine the driver normally has no idea what is in the container, and more importantly no idea how it is loaded. if the container is loaded top heavy it would make tipping it over much easier.

Sorry, comment time is over.
